సుందరకాండ.
అథ అష్టషష్టితమస్సర్గః||

అథాహ ముత్తరం దేవ్యా పునరుక్తః ససంభ్రమః|
తవ స్నేహాన్నరవ్యాఘ్ర సౌహార్దాదనుమాన్యవై||1||

స|| నరవ్యాఘ్ర ! తవ స్నేహాత్ సౌహార్దాత్ ససంభ్రమః దేవ్యాః అనుమాన్య దేవ్యా ఉత్తరం పునః ఉక్తః ||

'Oh Tiger among men! Because of the affection for you and love, the Devi addressed me again with confidence'.

ఏవం బహువిధం వాచ్యో రామో దాశరథిస్త్వయా|
యథా మామాప్నుయాత్ శీఘ్రం హత్వా రావణమాహవే||2||

స|| శీఘ్రం రావణం హత్వా యథామాం అప్నుయాత్ ( తథైవ) రామః దాశరథిః త్వయా బహువిధం వాచ్యః |

'How he may kill Ravana quickly and take me back, that you tell Rama and in many ways ' .

యది వా మన్యసే వీర వసైకాఽహ మరిందమ|
కస్మింశ్చిత్ సంవృతే దేశే విశ్రాంతః శ్వోగమిష్యసి||3||
మమచాల్పభాగ్యాయాః సాన్నిధ్యాత్ తవ వీర్యవాన్|
అస్య శోకవిపాకస్య ముహూర్తం స్యాద్విమోక్షణమ్||4||
గతే హిత్వయి విక్రాంతే పునరాగమనాయవై|
ప్రాణానామపి సందేహో మమస్యాన్నాత్ర సంశయః||5||
తవాదర్శనజ శ్శోకో భూయో మాం పరితాపయేత్|
దుఃఖాద్దుఃఖ పరాభూతాం దుర్గతాం దుఃఖభాగినీమ్||6||

స|| అరిందమ ! వీర ! యది మన్యసే (తది) కస్మింస్విత్ ఏకాహం సంవృతే ప్రదేశే విశ్రాన్తః శ్వః (త్వం) గమిష్యసి ||తవ సాన్నిధ్యాత్ మమ చ అల్పభాగ్యాయాః అస్య శోకవిపాకస్య ముహూర్తం విమోక్షణం స్యాత్||విక్రాంతే త్వయి గతే పునరాగమనాయ వై మమ ప్రాణానాం అపి సందేహాః స్యాత్ | అత్ర న శంసయః || దుఃఖాత్ దుఃఖభాగినీం దుర్గతాం మాం తవ అదర్శనజః శోకం భూయః మాం పరితాపయేత్||

" Oh Crusher of enemies ! If you think it is possible take rest at a lonely place for the night and then go. Because of your presence here , this less fortunate one will be freed from the sorrow for a while. Oh Valiant one ! When you go my life will also be in doubt by the time you come back. There is no doubt about this. Afflicted by sorrow , this unfortunate one , the sorrow of not being able to see you will again make me lament".

అయం చ వీర సందేహః తిష్ఠతీవ మమాగ్రతః|
సుమహాంస్త్వత్ సహాయేషు హర్యృక్షేషు హరీశ్వర||7||
కథం ను ఖలు దుష్పారం తరిష్యంతి మహోదధిమ్|
తాని హర్యృక్షసైన్యాని తౌ వా నరవరాత్మజౌ||8||
త్రయాణామేవ భూతానాం సాగరస్యాస్య లంఘనే|
శక్తిః స్యాద్వైనతేయస్య తవ వా మారుతస్య వా||9||

స|| వీర హరీశ్వర త్వత్ సుమహాన్ సహాయేషు హర్యక్షేషు అయం సందేహః చ మమ అగ్రతః తిష్ఠతి||దుష్పారం మహోదధిం తాని హర్యక్ష సైన్యాని కథం ను తరిష్యంతి ఖలు ||అస్య సాగరస్య లంఘనే భూతానాం త్రయాణాం ఏవ శక్తిః స్యాత్ వైనతేయస్య తవ వా మారుతస్య వా||

"Oh Heroic one ! Best among the Vanaras ! I have a great doubt about your associates among Vanaras. This ocean which cannot be crossed, how will those Vanara armies cross the same. Among all living beings , only three namely Vainateya , the Marut , and you are capable of crossing this ocean".

తదస్మిన్ కార్య నిర్యోగే వీరైవం దురతిక్రమే|
కిం పశ్యసి సమాధానం బ్రూహి కార్యవిదాం వర||10||
కామమస్య త్వమేవైకః కార్యస్య పరిసాధనే|
పర్యాప్తః పరవీరఘ్న యశస్యస్తే బలోదయః||11||

స|| వీర ! కార్యవిదాం వర ! తత్ ఏవం దురతిక్రమే కార్యనిర్యోగే కిం సమాధానం పశ్యసి బ్రూహి| పరవీరజ అస్య కార్యస్య పరిసాధనే త్వం ఏక ఏవ పర్యాప్తః కామమ్ | తే ఫలోదయః యశస్యః ( భవేత్)

" Oh Hero ! Foremost among those accomplishing tasks ! What solution you see for this difficult task ? Oh Slayer of enemy heroes ! Only you are capable of resolving this task surely. Succeeding in this, all the fame will be yours ".

బలైః సమగ్రైర్యది మాం హత్వా రావణమాహవే|
విజయీ స్వాం పురీం రామో నయేత్ తస్యాద్యశస్కరమ్||12||
యథాఽహం తస్య వీరస్య వనాదుపథినా హృతా|
రక్షసా తద్భయా దేవ తథా నార్హతి రాఘవః||13||
బలైస్తు సంకులాం కృత్వా లంకాం పరబలార్దనః|
మాం నయేద్యది కాకుత్‍స్థః తత్ తస్య సదృశం భవేత్||14||

స|| రామః రావణం సమగ్రైః బలైః ఆహవే హాత్వా విజయీ స్వాం పురీం (మాం) నయేత్ యది తత్ యశస్కరం స్యాత్ ||అహం రక్షసా వీరస్య ఉపాధినా యథా హృతా తథా తత్ భయాదేవ రాఘవః న అర్హతి|| పరబలార్దనః కాకుత్‍స్థః లంకాం శరైః సంకులం కృత్వా మామ్ నయేత్ యది తత్ తస్య సదృశం భవేత్||

" If Rama , defeating Ravana along with all his army, being victorious, and then he takes me back to his city , that will be proper for him. I have been abducted by the Rakshasa using devious means. Rama shall not take me back with fear ( secretly). If Kakustha , the slayer of the enemy armies, stirring Lanka with his arrows and takes me back that will be appropriate for him ".

తద్యథా తస్య విక్రాంతమనురూపం మహాత్మనః|
భవత్యాహవశూరస్య తథా త్వముపపాదయ||15||

స|| తత్ మహాత్మనః ఆహవశూరస్య తస్య అనురూపం విక్రాన్తం యథా భవేత్ తథైవ త్వం ఉపపాదయ||

" You plan in accordance with his might in such a way that it allows the great soul who is an exalted hero to exhibit his valor".

తదర్థోపహితం వాక్యం ప్రశ్రితం హేతుసంహితమ్|
నిశమ్యాహం తతశ్శేషం వాక్య ముత్తరమబ్రువన్||16||
దేవీ హర్యృక్ష సైన్యానాం ఈశ్వరః ప్లవతాం వరః|
సుగ్రీవః సత్త్వసంపన్నః తవార్థే కృత నిశ్చయః||17||

స|| తతః అర్థోపహితం ప్రశ్రితం హేతుసంహితం వాక్యం నిశమ్య అహం శేషం ఉత్తరం అబ్రువన్ ||దేవీ హర్యక్షుసైన్యానాం ఈశ్వరః ప్లవతాం వరః సత్త్వ సంపన్నః తవ అర్థే కృతనిశ్ఛయః||

' Hearing those meaningful courteous words supported with reasons I said these words in reply. "Oh Divine lady , the Lord of the armies of Vanaras, the best among fliers, richly endowed with strength is resolved to save you".

తస్య విక్రమసంపన్నాః సత్త్వవంతో మహాబలాః|
మనః సంకల్పసంపాతా నిదేశే హరయః స్థితాః||18||
యేషాం నోపరినాధస్తాన్ నతిర్యక్ సజ్జతే గతిః|
న చ కర్మసు సీదంతి మహత్స్వమిత తేజసః||19||

స|| విక్రమసంపన్నాః సత్త్వవన్తః మహాబలాః మనః సంకల్ప సంపాతాః తస్య నిదేశే స్థితాః||యేషాం గతిః ఉపరి న సజ్జతే| అధస్తాత్ న| తిర్యక్ న | అమిత తేజసః మహత్ సు కర్మసు న సీదన్తి||

" The mighty, powerful, tough warriors committed in their mind are under his command. They can go up without any obstruction. They can go down too. They can go in any other direction. These brilliant ones can undertake any task without difficulty".

అసకృత్తైర్మహాభాగైః వానరైర్బలదర్పితైః|
ప్రదక్షిణీకృతా భూమి ర్వాయుమార్గానుసారిభిః||20||
మద్విశిష్ఠాశ్చ తుల్యాశ్చ సంతి తత్ర వనౌకసః|
మత్తః ప్రత్యవరః కశ్చిన్నాస్తి సుగ్రీవ సన్నిధౌ||21||

స|| మహాభాగైః బలదర్పితైః వాయుమార్గానుసారిభిః తైః వానరైః భూమిః ప్రదక్షిణీ కృతా||సుగ్రీవ సన్నిధౌ తత్ర మత్ విశిష్ఠాశ్చ తుల్యాశ్చ సంతి | మత్తః ప్రత్యవరః కశ్చిత్ నాస్తి||

"These great Vanaras, who are proud of their might, can go around the earth travelling in the aerial path. In the court of Sugriva there are those who are better than me or equal to me. There is none who is less powerful than me".

అహం తావదిహ ప్రాప్తః కిం పునస్తే మహాబలాః|
నహి ప్రకృష్టాః ప్రేష్యంతే ప్రేష్యంతే హీతరే జనాః||22||
తదలం పరిపాతేన దేవి మన్యుర్వ్యపైతు తే|
ఏకోత్పాతేన వై లంకా మేష్యంతి హరియూథపాః||23||

స|| అహం తావత్ ఇహ అనుప్రాప్తః| మహబలాః తే కిం పునః | ప్రకృష్టాః న ప్రేత్యన్తే హి | ఇతరే జనాః ప్రేత్యన్తే హి|| దేవీ తత్ పరితాపేన అలం | తే శోకః వ్యపైతు| తే హరియూథపాః ఏకోత్పాతేన లంకాం ఏష్యంతి||

" If I have come here, what to say of the highly powerful ones. Superior one are indeed not sent. Only the other people are sent. Oh Divine lady ! Enough of such lamentation. Let your sorrow end. The Vanara army will reach Lanka in one jump".

మమపృష్ఠగతౌ తౌ చ చంద్రసూర్యావివోదితౌ|
త్వత్సకాశం మహాభాగే నృశింహవాగమిష్యతః||24||
అరిఘ్నం సింహసంకాశం క్షిప్రం ద్రక్ష్యసి రాఘవం|
లక్ష్మణం చ ధనుష్పాణిం లంకాద్వారముపస్థితమ్||25||

స|| మహాభాగే నృసింహౌ తౌ చ మమ పృష్ఠగతౌ ఉదితౌ చన్ద్రసూర్యావివ త్వత్ సకాశం ఆగమిష్యతః||లంకాద్వారం ఉపస్థితం అరిఘ్నం సింహసంకాశం తం రాఘవం ధనుష్పాణిం లక్ష్మణం చ క్షిప్రం ద్రక్ష్యసి||

" Oh Noble one ! Both of them , the lions among men, sitting on my back shining like Sun and moon will reach here soon. You will soon see the lion like slayers of enemies , the Raghava and Lakshmana with bow in his hand at the gates of Lanka".

నఖదంష్ట్రాయుధాన్ వీరాన్ సింహశార్దూలవిక్రమాన్|
వానరాన్ వారణేంద్రాభాన్ క్షిప్రం ద్రక్ష్యసి సంగతాన్||26||
శైలాంబుదనికాశానాం లంకామలయసానుషు|
నర్దతాం కపిముఖ్యానాం అచిరాచ్ఛ్రోష్యసి స్వనమ్||27||
నివృత్త వనవాసం చ త్వయా సార్థ మరిందమం|
అభిషిక్త మయోధ్యాయాం క్షిప్రం ద్రక్ష్యసి రాఘవమ్||28||

స|| నఖదంష్ట్రాయుధాన్ సింహశార్దూలవిక్రమాన్ వానరాన్ వారణేంద్రాభాన్ సంగతాన్ క్షిప్రం ద్రక్ష్యసి||శైలామ్బుదనికాశానామ్ లంకామలయమానుషు నర్దతాం కపిముఖ్యానాం స్వనం అచిరాత్ శ్రోష్యసి||నివృత్తవనవాసం అరిన్దమం అయోధ్యాయామ్ త్వయా సార్థం అభిషిక్తం రాఘవం క్షిప్రం ద్రక్ష్యసి||

"You will soon see Vanaras who use their nails and teeth as the weapons, who have the strength of lions and tigers. You will soon see leaders of the Vanara army hovering over Lanka's mountains like the rain clouds on the Malaya mountain. You will soon see the slayer of enemies, Rama crowned in Ayodhya along with you after completing the exile in the forest" .

తతో మయావాగ్బిరదీనభాషిణా
శివాభిరిష్టాభిరభిప్రసాదితా|
జగామ శాంతిం మమమైథిలాత్మజా
తవాపి శోకేన తదాఽభిపీడితా||29||

స|| తతః తవ శోకేనాపి తదా అభిపీడితా మైథిలాత్మజా మయా అదీనభాషిణా శివాభిః ఇష్టభిః మమ వాగ్భిః అభిప్రసాదితా శాంతిం జగామ||

'Then the princess of Mithila, Sita who was troubled by the thought of your sorrow , pleased with the soothing and auspicious words spoken by me, became peaceful".

ఇత్యార్షే శ్రీమద్రామాయణే ఆదికావ్యే వాల్మీకీయే
చతుర్వింశత్ సహస్రికాయాం సంహితాయామ్
శ్రీమత్సుందరకాండే అష్టషష్టితమస్సర్గః||
శ్రీసుందరకాండః సమాప్తః||

సర్వం శ్రీ రామచంద్రార్పణమస్తు||

Thus ends the sixty eighth Sarga of Sundarakanda. That is also the end of Sundarakanda in Ramayana, the first ever Sanskrit poem composed in Sanskrit by the first poet sage Valmiki.
